Challenging Day at Conondale for DPH

It was a tough day at the office for the DPH Motorsport crew with MX1, YZ450F racer Kade Mosig going 4-7 for equal 4th (5th) overall for the round and MX2 racer Wilson Todd taking his YZ250F to a 3-4 finish for 3rd overall.

By normal standards, this would be considered a great result for a team that competes against and beats full factory backed race teams, however the entire DPH Motosport team is driven to win.

“Days like today are tough for us. I’m happy with how the team is working together and I’m not unhappy with the results, but I know just know how driven both Kade and Wilson are to win." Team Owner Dale Hocking said. "3rd and 5th respectively and both guys are unhappy with their own performance, it raises the entire teams expectations, and drives us all to to give these guys every opportunity to achieve what we all believe they’re capable of”.

Racing in the premier, MX1 class, Victorian Kade Mosig went into round 3 feeling confident in his 3rd position in the championship, and his ability to move forward on the fast paced Conondale circuit, but the result he wanted was not to be.

“I really felt like I had good pace both leading into this round and even in the first race, where I was positioned well to take advantage of any mistake of the guys around me, but through the 2nd moto I really started to tighten up, with arm pump in particular hampering my ability to move forward, so even though I’m 3rd in the championship and only 15 points off 2nd, I’ll be using the next 2 weeks before Horsham to keep improving”.

For Wilson Todd in the highly competitive MX2 class, ‘frustrated’ is the best way to sum up his day.

“Race one, I put myself in a good position at the front of the pack, and worked my way into the lead. A lot of the riders around me had small moments, especially in the first half of the race and I wasn’t any different, dropping the bike, allowing several guys past and really losing the forward momentum I had.

"Race 2 and I didn’t get the start I wanted leaving me in the main pack getting bumped around rather than focussing on pushing forward, once I started making ground I dropped the bike again putting me back down the list, wrecking any chance I had of challenging for the win, I think I’ll spend the short break working on NOT dropping my bike!!”.

With the next round of the MX Nationals to be held in Horsham, VIC on May 21st, and the Australian Superbike Championship at Hidden Valley, NT on July 9th, the team has a much needed break to re-gather and regroup before continuing their campaigns in both national series.
