Out of Darkness - Josh Cachia documentary released

Posted: Tuesday, 11th July, 2017 : 3:16 PM - - 2,943 Reads

Bret Trigg Visual has released Episode 1 of Context; an all-new documentary series that will share honest, engaging stories from remarkable athletes within the Australian action sports community.

Episode 1 of Context features the raw and recognisable personality that is Josh Cachia; an incredibly talented motocross and supercross racer from Victoria who has been at the forefront of the Australian racing scene since his days on a 65. Josh experienced an outstanding Junior career, winning multiple Australian Junior Motocross Championship titles, and was widely anticipated to become one of Australia’s most successful exports in his Senior years.

After claiming the 2011 Under 19s MX Nationals title, and finishing third in the 2012 MX2 title chase, Josh headed overseas to contest the 2013 AMA Supercross Championship with JDR Motorsports; fulfilling his childhood dream of racing in the USA.

His dream would soon become his nightmare, as an unfortunate turn of events saw Cachia stuck without a team to race for when JDR Motorsports was forced to permanently close its doors. Josh found a lifeline to contest the 2013 MX Nationals in Australia for Carlton Dry Honda, but he would suffer multiple wrist injuries over the next two seasons that would ultimately force him to cease racing professionally ahead of the 2015 MX Nationals.

After walking away from the sport he has loved since he was just 5 years old, Josh found himself at the bottom of the barrel, losing close friends and facing adversity that most would find hard to overcome. On a dark path, Josh found his way, and with support from his family and close friends, was able to rekindle his passion for racing and make a triumphant return to competition at the 2016 Austra- lian Supercross Championship.

“I’ve taken this opportunity to share a really personal part of my life with those who might not completely understand me,” says Cachia. “This is my story, and I hope you can take something from it.”

Founder of Context, Bret Trigg, was excited to work closely with Cachia to bring Episode 1 of Context to life.

“I’ve known Josh since our Junior racing days,” says Bret. “I’ve always had an endless amount of respect for him – as an incredibly talented racer, and the genuine person that he is. He’s achieved so much for his age, and has done things that some kids will only ever dream of. When I heard whispers that Josh was planning on making a return to racing at the 2016 Australian Supercross Championship, I spoke to him about Con- text and he was instantly on board.

"We’ve been able to tell the world about what he has endured over the past couple of years, from suffering countless wrist injuries to being sidelined from the sport he has loved since he was 5 years old. I can’t thank Josh enough for allowing me to share his story, and put it into context for the general public to enjoy – I think it’s going to hit home for a lot of people.”

“In recent years, the Australian motocross scene has been lacking quality content,” explains Bret. “Overseas, there’s so much awesome content being created that showcases riders and their stories – not only to the motocross industry, but mainstream audiences as well. With Australia being home to so many amazing athletes, I simply want to help put their incredible stories into context to help build their personal profiles – locally and internationally – and also boost the sport here to a new level.”

Episode 1 of Context is available to watch now exclusively via Vimeo On Demand (Rent for $1.99 USD or Buy for $4.99 USD) – https://vimeo.com/ondemand/outofdarkness ?
